Logging
When you access these or other Internet pages, you transmit data to our Web server via your Internet browser. The following data is temporarily recorded in a log file during an ongoing connection for communication between your internet browser and our web server:
- IP address of the requesting computer
- Date and time of access
- Name, URL, and amount of data transferred in the file retrieved
- Access status (requested file transferred, not found etc.)
- Identification data of the browser and operating system used (if transmitted by the requesting web browser)
- Website from which the access was made (if transmitted by the requesting web browser)
The data in this log file is processed as follows
- The log entries are continuously evaluated automatically in order to detect attacks on the web servers and react accordingly.
- In individual cases, i.e. reported malfunctions, errors and security incidents, a manual analysis is performed.
- Log entries older than seven days are anonymized by shortening the IP address.
- The anonymized logs are used to create access statistics. The software used for this purpose is operated locally by the LRZ.
The IP addresses contained in the log entries are not merged with other databases by the LRZ, so that the LRZ cannot draw conclusions about individual persons.

Active components
Active components such as JavaScript, Java applets or Active-X controls are used on this website. You can deactivate this function by setting your Internet browser.
Evaluation of user behaviour (web tracking)
On this website data is collected and stored using the web analysis service software Matomo (www.matomo.org), a service of the provider InnoCraft Ltd., 150 Willis St, 6011 Wellington, New Zealand, ("Matomo") on the basis of our legitimate interest in statistical analysis of user behaviour for optimisation and marketing purposes in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO. From this data, pseudonymised user profiles can be created and evaluated for the same purpose. Cookies may be used for this purpose. Cookies are small text files that are stored locally in the cache of the Internet browser of the page visitor. The cookies enable, among other things, the recognition of the Internet browser. The data collected with Matomo technology (including your pseudonymised IP address) is processed on servers of the LRZ.
The information generated by the cookie in the pseudonymous user profile is not used to personally identify the visitor to this website and is not merged with personal data about the bearer of the pseudonym.
You can prevent the installation of cookies by setting your browser accordingly. However, we would like to point out that in this case you may not be able to use all the functions of this website to their full extent.
We recommend that you read Matomo's entire privacy policy:
https://matomo.org/privacy-policy/
Cookies
In order to extend the range of functions of our Internet offer and to make its use more convenient for you, we partly use so-called "cookies". With the help of these cookies, data can be stored on your computer when you visit our website. However, you can deactivate the storage of cookies or set your browser so that cookies are only stored for the duration of the respective connection to the Internet. This could, however, restrict the range of functions.
Videos on this website are partially embedded from YouTube or Vimeo. When playing the videos, the service provider may store cookies on the user's computer. We cannot influence this storage.
Electronic mail
Information that you send to us unencrypted by electronic mail (e-mail) may be read by third parties during transmission. As a rule, we cannot verify your identity and do not know who is behind an e-mail address. A legally secure communication by simple e-mail is therefore not guaranteed. Like many e-mail providers, we use filters against unwanted advertising ("SPAM filters"), which in rare cases automatically classify even normal e-mails as unwanted advertising and delete them. E-mails that contain harmful programs ("viruses") are automatically deleted by us in any case.
Linked websites
Our websites have links to external websites. We have no influence on the contents of these websites and therefore accept no responsibility or liability for the permissibility, correctness, presentation and completeness of the contents published, displayed or retrievable there.
We hereby inform you that when you access these external websites, your IP address may be logged by the responsible website operator. If you leave our website, we recommend that you check the data protection declaration of the external website operator before you call up the website or use its functions. Through these links, we merely provide access to the use of external content in accordance with § 8 Telemediengesetz (TMG). We have no influence on whether their operators comply with the data protection regulations. For illegal, incorrect or incomplete contents and in particular for damage, which develops from the use or not use of information of other providers, only the respective provider of the site is liable.
Use of facebook components
We utilise components of the provider facebook.com. Facebook is company of facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA. With each access of our website, these components trigger that the browser you use will download a corresponding display of the respective components from facebook. This process will inform facebook on which specific page of our online presence is currently being visited.
This means: When you access our page while you are logged on to facebook, then using the information collected by the component, facebook will recognise which specific page you are visiting and will assign this information to your personal facebook account. For example, when you click on the “Like” button, enter a comment or share posts, then this information is transferred to your personal user account on facebook and stored there. Furthermore, the information that you have visited our page is transmitted to facebook. This occurs irrespectively whether you have clicked on the component or not.
If you would like to prevent this transfer and the storage of data about you and your behaviour on our website by facebook, then you must log out of facebook – before you visit our site. Facebook’s data protection information provides more detailed information on this, in particular on the collection and usage of the data by facebook, on your rights in this matter and the configuration options for the protection of your privacy: http://de-de.facebook.com/about/privacy/.
Use of Twitter components
We use components of the provider Twitter on our website. Twitter is a service of Twitter Inc., 795 Folsom St., Suite 600, San Francisco, CA 94107, United States.
Each time you visit our website, this component causes the browser you are using to download a corresponding representation of the component of Twitter. Through this process, Twitter is informed about which specific page of our website is currently being visited.
We have no control over the information that Twitter collects here, nor about the amount of data collected by Twitter. To the best of our knowledge, Twitter collects the URL of the respective website and the user's IP address, but it is not used for purposes other than the presentation of the Twitter component. Further information can be found in the privacy policy of Twitter at http://twitter.com/privacy. You can change your privacy settings in the Account Settings at http://twitter.com/account/settings.

We therefore have no influence on the extent of the data that Google collects with the button, but assume that your IP address is also recorded.
The purpose and scope of the data collection and the further processing and use of the data by Google as well as your rights in this regard and setting options to protect your privacy can be found in Google's data protection information on the "+1″" button.

If you use these plugins, e.g. click/start buttons of a video or send a comment, this information is assigned to your YouTube user account, which you can only prevent by logging out before using the plugin. Further information on the collection and use of data by the platform or plugins can be found in Youtube's data protection information under the following link: http://www.google.com/intl/de/policies/privacy/

Use of Vimeo plugins (videos)
On our website you can find some plugins of the video portal Vimeo of Vimeo, LLC, 555 West 18th Street, New York, New York 10011, USA. In this case, however, no maps can be displayed. By using this website and not deactivating "Javascript", you agree that Google may process your data for the above purposes. Further information on how "Google Maps" and the route planner use your data and Google's privacy policy can be found at: https://www.google.com/intl/de_de/help/terms_maps.html.

Using SoundCloud
On our pages plugins of the social network SoundCloud (link is external) (SoundCloud Limited, 33 St James Square, London SW1Y 4JS, UK) can be integrated.
When you visit a page with a plugin, a direct connection is established between your browser and the SoundCloud server. SoundCloud receives the information that you have visited our site with your IP address. If you click the "Like" button while logged into your SoundCloud account, you can link and/or share the content of our pages with your SoundCloud profile. This allows SoundCloud to associate the visit to our pages with your user account. We would like to point out that as the provider of the pages, we do not have any knowledge of the content of the transmitted data or its use by SoundCloud. Further information on this can be found in SoundCloud's privacy policy.
If you do not want SoundCloud to be able to assign visits to our pages to your SoundCloud user account, please log out of your SoundCloud user account before activating SoundCloud plugin content.
